I purchased a copy of "The Lucky Bastard Club" at a little restaurant in Milwaukee called The Hanger, which is just
across the street from Mitchell International Airport. I couldn't put it down. The book was a delight; a tremendous tribute
to sexual morality and the sanctity of marriage, without being at all "preachy". It just reveals the precious jewel
that two real life people had who simply loved and gave themselves to each other exclusively and whole heartedly. It should
be required reading in every high school class in America. My son is reading it next. Thank you so much.

I feel like I was a part of something special. Not only did you document an important event in your life for your family
but you shared it with me and I feel privileged. Thank you very much.

I just wanted to write and tell you how much I enjoyed your book, "The Lucky Bastard Club". Your book is a wonderful
war love story and a marvelous tribute to the both of you.
Jan M., Milwaukee, WI
I really enjoyed the book, and I also learned a lot during that enjoyment. I laughed and cried and was lost in thought as
I shared, through your published letters, the love you two share with each other, as well as the experience of WWII. Thank
you for this opportunity to share, through your book, in your memories.
Tamara P., Melissa, TX
"I had trouble putting the book down, and was very inspired by your story.Your story is a great balance between your
commitment to your men and our country, while clearly demonstrating the sacrifices you and your bride made for the good of
all. I only wonder if the youth of today can appreciate such a sacrifice. After reading your book, it made me appreciate what
your generation went through and my wife alot more!"
Mac M., Dallas, TX
I have two wonderful daughters that keep their pulse on my every thought. They very wisely knew that I would enjoy your book...
I never peek ahead in a book for the ending so I was sweating out all your 35 missions with you and hoping you and Joyce
would find the happiness you both were looking for.
Bobby W., Houston, TX
"How much I enjoyed your book! Being a retired Army Aviator from the Viet Nam era, I expected a war story and experienced
a wonderful love story. After the outstanding description of the process of aviation training and the introduction of your
crewmembers, I couldn't wait to read the 'mission debriefing.' At first, I rushed thru the Letters, to get to the Missions,
and then found myself anticipating the letters. Thank you for your dedication, courage, personal hardships and saving our
nation."
Harry Shuler, President ACC, Inc., Atlanta, GA
"A moving story about heroism, courage and the bond between a WWII bomber pilot and his crew. At the same time, it
tells of the heartwarming love between him and his devoted wife."
Capt. Edsel L. Burks, Memphis, TN
"I laughed, I cried. I've never been so emotionally involved in a book. I want a man like Jack to love me."
Kendra, Dallas, TX
"Wow! What a love story!" Debbi, Oconomowoc, WI
